The Sir Francis Chichester Trust was set up in 1968 to commemorate Sir Francis Chichester’s solo circumnavigation of the world in his yacht, Gipsy Moth IV.
He inspired the whole nation throughout his adventurous career – from pioneer World War pilot to daring solo yachtsman. He challenged us all to reach further and higher in our lives.
At his request, the Trust was founded to provide funding for 16-19 year olds from Devon, Plymouth and Torbay to attend an Outward Bound course. Thanks to our generous donors, we’re able to send up to 30 young people every year on this once-in-a-lifetime experience, that will see them achieving more than they ever thought possible.
