If you’re facing a new challenge, like stepping up to sixth form, heading to uni or trying to get your first job, the Skills for Life Award will help you to get ahead.
You’ll build key employability skills whilst setting yourself up with key tools for the future – like a video statement, a reference and a 12 month action plan. Spend 19 days of your summer taking part in big adventures like kayaking, gorge scrambling and overnight expeditions in the wild. You’ll make new friends from all over the world as you build a sense of confidence and independence for the future.

“Outward Bound gave me the best summer of my life. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t use the skills I learned there.” Sarah, participant.
Where does the Award take place?
You could be based at one of three incredible locations around the UK – Loch Eil in the Scottish Highlands, Ullswater in the Lake District or Aberdovey in Snowdonia, Wales. Most of the time, you’ll be out on the water or in the hills but when you are indoors, you’ll be staying in single- sex dorm-style accommodation, with people of your own age.
